The Debate For/Against New Franchise Regulations

At the November 2023 Advisory Board meeting, the Titus Center for Franchising hosted a dynamic panel that tackled the pros and cons of recently introduced franchise legislation. Moderated by franchise attorney Warren Lewis of Akerman, LLP, the panelists included Sarah Bush, general counsel of the International Franchise Association; Ned T. Lyerly, former CEO, CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc.; and Keith R. Miller, director of public policy and engagement, American Association of Franchisees & Dealers, this panel debated the new franchise regulations.

Lewis opened the discussion by stating, “We’ve seen more proposed and actual enacted regulations and regulatory activity affecting franchising in the last 20 months than we’ve seen in the last 45 years.”
